Biography:
Born in 1946 at Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, I made my way through Vancouver and Prince Rupert, British Columbia, to New Orleans, where I have lived for the past 12 years.

I am primarily a self-taught photojournalist and commercial photographer. I settled down to a career in photography when I turned 40, a now or never decision. Over the past 20 years, interest and circumstance have combined to lead me to concentrate on photographing the commercial marine industry. The result is a body of work including a comprehensive document of the North American commercial fishing industries and workboats of every ilk, from ship to rowing skiff.

Gone Fishing, published by Sono Nis Press, is a critically acclaimed, stark black and white document of my photographs portraying the commercial fishing industry in British Columbia. The photographs are accompanied by poetry penned by an esteemed group of contemporary Canadian poets.

I have contributed to several other books on the subject as well as works depicting the workboat and travel industries, including Gulf South, published by Compass American Guides. Most of my work appears in marine and travel magazines. I also write for many of the publications.

Throughout my career, I have skirted the edges of the gallery world, exhibiting in galleries and museums including Hues Gallery in Prince Rupert, Vancouver Maritime Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, The Colorado Fine Arts Center and BC Space in Laguna Beach, California.
