This image, along with seven others in Eric Paul Julien's Isle of Hispaniola series, received the Black & White Magazine 2008 Portfolio Contest Excellence Award.

Temps is a composition of elderly women slaughtering a black pig. The title refers to an Asian myth about the 360-degree cycle of life. This image also narrates the anthropologist Verschueren accounts of the ceremony that started the Haitian revolution.
