This image was made in August 2003 and is part of a body of work entitled New York Stories, which began three weeks after September 11, 2001.  It represents three years of imagery that chronicle my long time love affair with New York City.  What I saw then, I still see there now – a city of chance and change, a study of extremes, where sometimes the most heroic act is the pursuit of simple, daily life.  The beauty and grace of things that, in our haste, we often take for granted.
