Biography

Jennifer Shaw is a fine art photographer who lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana. She spent most of her formative years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she first learned her way around the darkroom at the age of fifteen. She immersed herself in the medium, and went on to study it at the Rhode Island School of Design, earning a BFA in Photography in 1994.

Curiosity led her to New Orleans, where she has been pursuing her art ever since. After many years of employment in a custom photo lab she is now freelancing, with a concentration on her personal work and custom portraiture. She has recently begun teaching photography part time at the Louise S. McGehee School.

Jennifer’s work has been featured in several issues of Shots Magazine, as well as Light Leaks Magazine and The Sun. Her photographs have won awards in national exhibitions, and are held in both private and public collections, including the Huntsville Museum of Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
